30 Days, 30 Ways! Day 16: Close friends on the Color Wheel
You may not have noticed it on this blog since I do wear a lot of earth tones, but I LOVE color.
I never met a color I didn't like.
When someone toured our home for the first time who is a house painter by profession, she said "You know, you don't HAVE to have a color in EVERY room!" I laughed and said, "No, I don't HAVE to, but I WANT to!"
Our living room is a cozy, welcoming Orange. My work room is an inspiring, invigorating, bright Poppy Red.
Our quest bedroom is a cheery yellow. Our kitchen is a stimulating Cobalt Blue. The room I painted for my Grandmother is a calming, soft, watery aqua, but I'm now ready to change to a shade of gold or yellow now that it's my boutique. The only room I haven't gotten to yet is our Master Bedroom but that's on hold since we may be tearing down a wall or two.
I've always like color combinations that are close friends on the color wheel: oranges & reds, purple & pinks, blues & purples, etc... Mixing Green with Blue gives this earth toned redhead a great excuse to wear a cool toned color like blue.
I really had no idea what I was going to wear today. I love me a long dress and picked up this wonderful Maxi with an enticing side slit when it was one of KOKOON's Steal of the Weeks. I saw this being neglected in my closet since I started this 30 day exercise, so I put it on, turned the Dress into a Jacket (directions to do so in Day 8) and looked in the mirror. A little too much brown! So I grabbed this blue/green piece of a sheer netting and played around with it and before I knew it, it became a draping collar/lapel for the jacket.
I used my "stay-put" pins (directions in Day 12): one at my neckline, the other two on the side at my hip. Instant collar!
I like it so much, you may see this basic idea with other scarves in the days to come.
When I initially ordered my Llynda More BootTops, I choose the Brown Snake Skin, just to be on the "conservative" side. There's nothing conservative about this. I gave the top a nice Chunky Cuff to peek out of the side slit.
I'm going to try to continue to post thru the Holidays so I'll be scheduled to wrap this up on January 7.
See you all Christmas Eve.
